The Artwork
My interest is in forming compositional relationships
of color and structure, subject and content.
My intent is to find, through design, an abstract of figure and
place holding new perceptual experience.
My direction is in making formal visual elements enhanced
by subject identities that connect with and
contrast the viewers experience.
This selection of paintings and drawings includes works from
the time period spanning the 1970s to the present.
The Artist
James Beasley was born and grew up in Laramie, Wyoming
where the clarity of the landscape; the high plains grass lands,
the mountain forests, formed the foundation of his vision.
Beasley studied painting, design and printmaking at the University
of Wyoming Department of Art, earning Bachelor of Fine Arts and
Masters of Fine Arts degrees. He has taught courses in drawing,
painting and photography, he has worked as a freelance
photographer and graphic designer. He was also employed as
Assistant Curator for the University of Wyoming Art Museum and
as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at The Springfield Art
Museum, Springfield, Missouri, USA.
