The Artwork

My interest is in forming compositional relationships

of color and structure, subject and content.

My intent is to find, through design, an abstract of figure and

place holding new perceptual experience.

My direction is in making formal visual elements enhanced

by subject identities that connect with and

contrast the viewers experience.

This selection of paintings and drawings includes works from

the time period spanning the 1970s to the present.

The Artist

James Beasley was born and grew up in Laramie, Wyoming

where the clarity of the landscape; the high plains grass lands,

the mountain forests, formed the foundation of his vision.

Beasley studied painting, design and printmaking at the University

of Wyoming Department of Art, earning Bachelor of Fine Arts and

Masters of Fine Arts degrees. He has taught courses in drawing,

painting and photography, he has worked as a freelance

photographer and graphic designer. He was also employed as

Assistant Curator for the University of Wyoming Art Museum and

as Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at The Springfield Art

Museum, Springfield, Missouri, USA.
